Ann Elizabeth 'Nana' (Boyd) Groves

Ann Elizabeth (Boyd) Groves was born September 1, 1945 in Dover, Kentucky. A graduate of South High School, in Columbus, Ohio, she later attended Bliss College. Ann was employed as a Social Worker at Children’s Hospital for a period of time before taking a position with the State of Ohio. In March 2012, she was selected and recognized as the “Employee of the Month.” After many years of dedicated service, she retired from the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Parole Board. Ann, or “Nana” as she was affectionately known, lived her life for her kids. All holidays were shared at Nana’s house, where you were sure to enjoy a good, home-cooked meal. She also shared her time and energy with others in need by volunteering at church and with Toys for Tots. On November 21, 2014, at the age of 69, Ann was called home to rest with the Lord while at Mt. Carmel West. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ola Cole and Ralph Wrenn. She is survived by daughter, Aqua Groves; sons, Timothy Townes, Lamar Woods, and Shannon Groves; grandchildren, Natasha, Nicholas, Trey, and Taylor Townes, Brandon Woods, Nijha Johnson, Marlee Bennett, and Charrisse Eberhardt; brother, Russell (Theresa) Beckley; sister, Vickie Bennett; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Townes; former spouse, Joseph Groves; longtime best friend, Eileen Baxtron; and a host of other relatives and friends.
