Gene Monroe Peoples, Sr.

Deacon Gene Monroe Peoples, Sr. was born March 19, 1942 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He attended the public schools of Spartanburg and graduated from Carver High School in 1960. He later attended Columbus Technical Institute. Brother Peoples has been a faithful member of Jerusalem Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where he served as the head Deacon and also taught Sunday School. For several years, Mr. Peoples worked as a security guard for the State of Ohio as well as Battelle Memorial Institute. He also worked as a transportation specialist, driving people to their medical appointments. Gene was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State football. On September 3, 2019, at the age of 77, Gene M. Peoples, Sr. passed away while at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Peoples and Juanita Webster, and sister Jocelyn Webster. He is survived by his wife Donna Peoples; children, Cindy Peoples, Juanita (Mark) Murray and Gene (Katrina) Peoples, Jr.; other “children” Jean Davis and Lisa Williamson; sister Debra Webster; brother Tommy Webster; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
