Harrison Marlon Ray, age 44, was born April 2, 1975 in Columbus, Ohio to Harrison and Shermaine Ray. Shortly after graduating from Mifflin High School, he joined the US Marine Corp Platoon #3101 and served from 1995-1999. There he received National Defense Medal, Certificate of Commendation, and Marksman Rifle Badge. He was promoted in 1996 to Lance Corporal. Marlon was employed by Siemens Building Technology in Westerville, Ohio as a Building Operator for a short period before joining the Hyatt Regency of Columbus as a General Maintenance Engineer. During his 12 years at the Hyatt, he performed preventative maintenance, responded to guest room request, and helped to keep the building beautiful. He was a dedicated employee and took great pride in his job. Marlon loved “that team up north”, Michigan despite the displeasure of his dad and uncles who are avid Buckeye fans. He had a gentle spirit and soft humble attitude. He also enjoyed listening to music and playing video games. You rarely caught him with out his earbuds and backpack. Marlon’s mantra, “I’d rather be hated by for who I am than be loved for who I am not” On Monday, June 17, 2019, Marlon passed away unexpectedly. He is preceded in death by paternal grandfather Robert Ray, Sr., paternal grandmother Martha E. Ray (Mammaw), uncle Robert Ray, Jr. (Pig), maternal grandmother Betty J. Bolden (Punkin), aunt Jeri P. Bolden, and godparents Saint Elmo and Mary Smith. “Boo” as he was affectionately known, leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Harrison and Shermaine Ray; maternal grandfather, Henry Bolden, Jr. (Pawpaw); aunts, Barbara J. Ray, Yvonne Lovingood, and Marsha Taylor; uncles, Ronald W. Ray, William S. Bolden (Fats), Hank Bolden, Ronald E. (Diane) Bolden and Richard T. (Debra) Bolden; and a host of special cousins and loving friends.
