Hazel Jackson was born on February 11, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio to the union of Grady and Maggie Jackson. She was the baby of the family. She received her formal education from Columbus Public Schools. Hazel accepted the Lord and was baptized at Oakley Baptist Church. She loved to listen to various ministers and good gospel music. Hazel was a devoted mother, grandmother, loyal sister, and caregiver to her autistic granddaughter, Anita Wilson, whom she loved and cherished as with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always instilled in her children the importance of family sticking together and being there for each other. Although she enjoyed her private time, Hazel enjoyed family gatherings, the sharing of good food, laughter, and cherished memories. Hazel had a BIG SWEET TOOTH for chocolate and most deserts. She was known for her famous lemon cake. Blessed with seventy-five years of life, our beloved Hazel, surrounded by family, peaceably passed into the hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Summit Trace Nursing Facility. She is predeceased by her parents, Grady and Maggie Jackson; sisters, Etta Mae and Sadie; brothers, Grady Sr., Robert, Clifford, Howard, and Johnnie; daughter, Kathleen Wilson; and son, James Neal. Celebrating her life and cherishing her memory include her sons, Jerome (Chauncy) Neal of Los Angeles, California and Michael (Wanda) Neal; five grandchildren, Aneisha, Angela, Adrian, Anita, and Mysheila; three great grandchildren, Ki, Asia, and Amina; sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Robert Brown, sister-in-law, Lilly Jackson Kirk; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and a host of friends.
