Lucy Mae Hill was born in Devereux, Georgia on June 24, 1927 to Ida Mae and James Holsey. In her early years, her family moved to Milledgeville. After graduating from high school, Lucy attended Morris Brown College for two years. Lucy played on the Women's Basketball Team at college. Shortly after attending Morris Brown, Lucy and her sister Mary moved to Columbus Ohio. There she met the love of her life, Lewis Edward Hill. They were united in marriage and were blessed with three children. Lucy was an amazing and devoted mother, who valued education and passed the same values to her children. Lucy worked as a Personal Security Specialist for the Defense Industrial Clearance Office for 24 years. Lucy loved the Lord and encouraged these same values in her children. She was a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church. At Church, Lucy served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, an usher, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher, Guild Girl Counselor, and Deaconess. She was a member of the Major Choir, the Shape Note Singers and the Gospel choir. She was a member of the Dorcas Foreign Ministry. Lucy loved attending Lott Carey Foreign Mission Conventions. In her spare time, Lucy loved making pottery, knitting, crocheting, and making flower arrangements. She was also active in various clubs such as, the La Madre Club and Altrusians Club. Lucy departed this life, Friday night, February 7, 2020. She was preceded in death by husband, Lewis Hill; father, James Holsey Sr.; mother, Ida Holsey; brothers James Holsey and Wilbert Holsey; and sisters Euretha Owens and Mary Ivory. Left to cherish Lucy's memory are her children; daughter, Jacqueline (Nigel) Thompson; sons, James(Geraldine) Hill Sr., Lamoine Hill, Sr.; grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and other family members.
