Milton Wilson Sr

August 28, 1922 — February 9, 2017

Milton S. Wilson, Sr. was born August 28, 1922 to the union of Charles and Leola Wilson in Lego, West Virginia. When he was twelve years old, Milton and his family moved to Columbus, Ohio, after the death of his father. Milton confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at Oakley Baptist Church when it was located on Oakley Avenue in Columbus. He graduated from West High School and joined the United States Army, in which he served with the 372nd Battalion stationed in New York City, New York. Milton married Ernestine Gibson, in 1950, and from that union were born three children. After serving his country for four years, he received an honorable discharge from military service in 1950. He went to work for Rockwell International and retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC) with 31 years of service. Milton graduated, with honors, from Franklin University and completed additional coursework in the field of architectural engineering. Initiated into the Masonic Order, in 1950, Milton achieved numerous milestones over the years, including holding the office of Secretary, Treasurer, and Deputy Grand Master (1980) of Successful Lodge No. 17, FAAYM-PHO; member of MWPGM, now closed Central Grand Lodge AFAM HQ; instrumental in the forming of The Perfecting Lodge; he achieved Grand Master - 33rd Degree Mason in 1982; and was a member of the Harvey Alston Elks Lodge. On February 9, 2017, at the age of 94, our beloved Milton S. Wilson, Sr., was called from labor to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death by his sons, Milton S. Wilson, Jr. (May 5, 2008) and Tyrone L. Wilson (December 26, 2000), and siblings, Daniel Wilson, Roy Wilson, and Thelma Wilson Mitchell. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving daughter Victoria Wilson Corbin; stepdaughter Kimberly S. Thomas; nephew Carl Wilson; daughter-in-law, Diana Wilson; grandchildren, Erick T. (Nyoca) Wilson, Ashley N. Wilson, LaTanya (Lamont) Settles, Tracie Wilson, Jonathan Corbin, Rodderick (Tanessa) Stewart, and Randall Stewart; great grandchildren, Shanika, De’Shawn, Nnekia, and Arianna Mekel; great granddaughter Eryn; great-great granddaughter A’Leah; special niece Terry Gibson Miles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Milton’s final words to us would be: “May you enjoy life as I have and hope for the life that I will live with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God Bless You All.”
