Dr. Rheba Washington Otey, age 94, went home to the Lord, Friday, March 13, 2015 at Wexner Heritage Village after a lengthy illness. Born September 26, 1920 in Greene County, OH, she entered into marriage to Robert Otey in 1948. Rheba received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wilberforce University in 1942; she later received her Masters and PhD degrees in Library Science from the Ohio State University. She has served as a librarian for Columbus City Schools (Monroe Jr. High and Medina Middle Schools). Her civic and community endeavors include contributing writer, Columbus Call and Post newspaper; Columbus Urban League Guild; Jack Jill of America; Junior Leaguers Social Club; as well as being a founder and president of Columbus Chapter of Chums, Inc. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Cathedral, St. Cyprians and St. Dominic's Catholic Churches. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Otey, and leaves to cherish her memory her son, James Edward Otey.
