Winifred Ermagene Pagan

Winifred Ermagene (Tanksley) Pagan was born on August 28, 1938 to the late Green Allen and Estella (Robinson) Tanksley in Columbus, OH. She departed this life on November 13, 2018. Winifred was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 31 years Alphonso Pagan, daughter Linda Pagan-Calloway, sister Edna (Tanksley) Rusher, along with two brothers Green Allen Tanksley and Wallace Tanksley. Winifred leaves to cherish her three daughters, Shirley M. Pagan, Dayton, OH; Vlora K. Pagan and Angelia Y. Smith, both of Columbus, OH; and son, Douglas A. Pagan, Columbus, OH. She is also survived by three sisters, Mildred Wooden and Mattie Mae Miller both of Columbus, OH, Mary Lange, Los Angeles, CA; and brother William (Beatrice) Tanksley of Columbus, OH, and brother-in-law Charles Pagan, of Gastonia, NC. In addition Winifred leaves 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Winifred valued education. As such, she matriculated from Central High School (Columbus Ohio) in 1955. Many years later she worked towards an Associate’s Degree and successfully graduated from Columbus State University in 1983. Winifred was a lifelong faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Columbus, OH where she accepted Christ into her life at the age of 10 years old. Winifred remained a faithful member for over 70 years and was active in the Sunday School Ministry as a Primary Sunday School teacher for many years. Winifred will be forever missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother and sisters, as well as her Trinity Baptist Church family, nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.
