Ada Elizabeth Bettye Sligh Stevenson, Sept. 25, 1942 – April 4, 2013. Age 70. Born in Asheville, NC to Gilbert Sr. and Mary Sligh. Formerly married to Claude Stevenson, Jr. A graduate of Capital University. She was a life-long educator working for Child Development Council of Franklin County Head Start and Columbus City Schools (Latchkey). Committed to enriching children’s lives, she founded Rainbow Summer Camp at Broad St. Presbyterian Church in 1978 and for more than 45 years volunteered hundreds of hours with various community agencies including FirstLink where she assisted grandparents raising grandchildren. Ada was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, and friend who will be truly missed. Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Mary Sligh; daughter, Terree Stevenson; sons, Sean Stevenson and MarShon Gripper; grandchildren, Shante Stevenson and Terin Miller; sisters, Gail (Robert) Petty and Mary Louise (Jesse) Siler, and a host of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the James Cancer Hospital, Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University.
