Albert Austin Cheek, II born November 17, 1952, in Columbus, OH, departed this life on February 25, 2021. Albert, also known as "Big Al", "Cheek" and "Cheeko" was predeceased by his parents, Jefferson K. and Roxie Cheek, Sr. He is survived by his significant other, Carla Mardis Norris; his sons, A. Austin (Angela) Cheek III, Scott Mitchell Cheek; daughter, Alexis Mitchell Cheek; grandchildren, Jackson and Kennedy Cheek; siblings, Jefferson (Omega) Cheek, Jr, Dr. Melissa (JE) Cheek Luten-Wilson, Stephen (Beverly) Cheek and Dr. Ronald (Valentina) Cheek; aunt, Dollene Scott; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, former wife, Fern Cheek, special friends Orville and Sharon Lynch and other family and friends. Albert graduated from Jonathan Alder High School, Plain City, OH in 1970. He received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Fisk University, Nashville, TN in 1974. His career centered primarily in banking, first with Comerica Bank (formerly Detroit Bank & Trust) in Detroit, MI and Huntington Bank in Columbus. He retired from TSI, Inc in 2019. Albert was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and Pride of Hilltop Lodge #110 PHA (Masons). He was also active with the Eastgate Garden Civic Association. Albert enjoyed listening to all kinds of music including jazz, R&B, hip hop, a little bit of country, and gospel. He loved watching sports and was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. During the warm weather months, Albert delighted in preparing barbeque for family and friends. He departed this earth too soon and will be sorely missed. Beginning at 9am, doors will open for a walk-through viewing.
