Alfred E. Ward Jr. was born on March 18, 1953, in Ridgeway, Virginia, to Alfred Eugene Ward, Sr. and Rosa Lee Starling-Ward. He went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 27, 2013, at his house. Alfred met the Love of his Life at the age of sixteen, when they became high school sweethearts. They were blessed with forty-five years together, of which they were married thirty-nine. Alfred was a humble man, a devoted husband, father, and son who loved to work on cars, listen to music, and spend time in his yard. He was a Little League Coach for Westland Cougars. He also enjoyed attending all of his sons' numerous sporting events. Alfred was a 1971 graduate of South High School and later earned an Associate of Science Degree from Wilmington College. Alfred was baptized at an early age and was a member of New Birth Christian Ministries. He was a leader in the eyes of his family and was a role model for all. Alfred was employed by the City of Columbus for twenty-seven years, most recently as a supervisor with the Transportation Department. He had a strong work ethic and was proud to be known as a Snow Warrior. He was loved and respected by fellow workers. Alfred is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Eugene Ward, Sr.; sister, Linda Ward; brother, Randy Ward; and niece, Jamecia Ward. He is survived by his loving wife, Anita Diane Ward; sons, Alfred Eugene Ward III and Aaron Elliot Ward; mother, Rosa Starling-Ward; sisters, Norma (Curtis) Dillard of Ridgeway, Virginia, Rosetta Ward, and Tonya Ward; brothers, Audie Ward and Jerry Ward; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Milton) Anthony, Lesa Flewellen, and Mary Flewellen; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Flewellen, all of Columbus, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
