Alma Lee Murphy

January 16, 1936 — April 6, 2019

Mrs. Alma Lee Murphy Jackson was born in Natchez, Mississippi on January 16, 1936. Her previous residence’s include Cleveland, Ohio, New Orleans, Louisiana and Columbus, Ohio. In her final years, Mrs. Murphy served as an Elder at Greater GLORY Ministries Church in Columbus, Ohio. The fourth of six children, she is survived by two sisters; Mrs. Alberta Murphy McFarland of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Mrs. Annie Lee Murphy Parker of Missouri City, Texas, grandchildren; Eric Price, (wife Pam) and Cindy Rodriguez, great-grandchildren; Brittnie Price, Audrianna Rodriguez, Victoria Rodriguez, and Victor Rodriguez Jr., and a host of nieces and nephews in Louisiana and Texas. Elder Murphy’s many years of ministry focused on preaching and teaching God’s Word to those in the community and behind prison walls. So dedicated to their spiritual well-being, for many years she drove a van collecting up those in need of hearing God’s Word and took them to church. She loved and studied the Word daily. In her latter weeks, unable to physically come to church, she diligently studied her Sunday School book to make sure she got her Sunday School lesson. Elder Murphy also preached inside the walls, Pastoring her own church and at the requests of other clergy leaders and churches.
