Alma Lee Scales, beloved mother and grandmother, departed this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Kobacker House in Columbus Ohio. She was born in the small town of Nuttall, West Virginia where she grew up, met and married Hosea Scales Sr. They later moved to Minden, West Virginia and then Columbus, Ohio where she became a member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. To describe Alma, one would immediately think of the words, beautiful, loving, devoted, charitable and a woman of strong character and religious beliefs. Her home was always one of love and sharing. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hosea Scales Sr. and several sisters. Survivors include her brother, Raymond Spradley; sister, Thelma Redman, both of Cleveland Ohio; daughters, Dorothy (Clifford) Rose, Eva Berry, Thelma (Robert) Clark and Sylvia Scales; son, Hosea (Kendra) Scales Jr.; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. God knew that she was suffering and the hill was hard to climb so, he closed her weary eyelids and whispered, Peace be thine.
