Alton Maurice Henry, affectionately known as “Al”, was born October 24, 1955 in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Philadelphia Public Schools where he graduated from Central High School in 1972. In 1977, he earned a BS in Business Administration from Drexel University. In 1978, Al received his Barber license for the state of Pennsylvania. On May 31, 1980, Al married the love of his life, Evelyn Christine Philmon. In 1992, he and his family moved to Columbus, OH. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and traveling and vacationing with his wife. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. Al was a member of Rhema Christian Center where he was a licensed Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, a Deacon, an Usher, a Leader of the Men’s Ministry, taught "Majoring in Men" classes, and participated in B.R.E.A.D ministry, Couples' Ministry, and Friends Ministry. It was his passion to mentor others and lead them to Christ. Al worked in the major appliances industry for 42 years for General Electric, Frigidaire, Builder Appliance Supply, HH Gregg and Custom Distributors. On January 15, 2021, Alton went from labor to reward. He was predeceased by his father Wardell A. Henry, mother Bernice F. Henry and son Andre M. Henry. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 40 ½ years, Evelyn "Chrissy" Henry; children, Christopher Marcus Henry (Naomi), Derrick Matthew Henry (Brittany), Alicia Marie Norman, Jr. (Arthur); nine grandchildren; one granddog; mother-in-law, Evelyn E. Philmon; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; aunt, Mary Bush; cousins, nieces, nephews, a host of friends and loved ones.
