Alvin Leon Reeves went home to be with the Lord, at the age of 88, on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Alvin met and married his beautiful wife, Smile Lockhart, on November 24, 1954. He retired from Kroger Bakery with 30 years of service. Alvin, affectionately known as “Big Al” was a faithful member at Columbus Christian Center where Dr. David C. Forbes Jr. is Pastor. Alvin served on the usher board where he was an encouragement to all those that entered the door. His love for people was impeccable and he did not meet a stranger especially when he frequented Kroger grocery store where most everyone knew him by name. He was preceded in death were parents, William Jasper and Mamie Gertrude Reeves; three sisters and ten brothers. Left to cherish his memory are, wife, Smile Reeves of 58 years; brother, Vernon Reeves; daughters, Constance (Kenton) Curenton, Cynthia (Larry) Moore, Cassandra (Willie) McGrew; grandchildren, Kenton Lamar (Irina) Curenton, Kyra L. Curenton, Larry D. (Amber) Moore, Aaron Crowder, Amber Crowder, Keante McGrew, Deante Bell, and Shequan Williams; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Kyle, and Kellen Curenton, Knaiya and Kadence McGrew, Jaybyuante and Gianni McGrew-Bell, D.J. Bell and special adopted son Craige Green, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
