Amos Johnson born in Chambers County, Alabama. He was born to Joseph Johnson and Mamie Whittaker Johnson on January 15, 1934. He went home peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Kobacker House. Amos graduated from Central High School in Columbus, Ohio and attended ITT Community College. He served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. He was a Masonry by trade. He was united in marriage to Mryna Neil Johnson for 57 years. To that union two children were born, Travens Lamar Johnson and Tretta Lynn Johnson Alexander. He was employed with the City of Columbus Sewer and Drainage Department for 40 plus years. He worked his way up to an Assistant Manager where he hired many employees. Amos and his wife owned and operate MJ Tours, recognized in the state as a successful travel business. Amos was an excellent provider of his family, excellent husband, loved to dress and had many, many friends. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mamie Johnson; sisters, Rosetta (James) Fears, Matilda (James) Williams, Geneva (Archie) Godfrey, Joe Thomas, Arthur L. Johnson, Josephine (James) Steward and sister-in-law Bertha Johnson and brother-in-law Wilbur Leigh. He leaves to cherish in his memory his wife, Myrna M. Johnson; son, Travens (Jill) Johnson; daughter, Tretta (Ronald) Alexander and grandchildren, Janae (Nelson) Perez, Brandon (Jo) Alexander, DJ Christian; great-grandchildren, Anthony Perez, Emmanuel Perez.; sister, Ruby Leigh and brother, Norris Johnson and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
