Angela V. Alexander, age 59, of Columbus, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. She was born on June 11, 1956 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Angela was a resident of Columbus, Ohio since December of 1973. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio (Arlington Courts) until July of 1977. She worked with the State of Ohio at DRSC as a Correctional Officer for many years. Angela served our country in the United States Air Force. She entered in July of 1977 and retired in March of 1994. She received her Associate degree from Columbus State and her Bachelor degree from Ohio University. Angela had a heart of gold. She would lend a helping hand to anyone in need and would open her doors to shelter families and friends. She was very educated, funny, loving and caring but she was also stern. She passed unexpectedly after battling two forms of Stage 4 cancers. She was a strong woman and fighter. Her favorite saying was, “Jesus Take the Wheel!” Angela was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Adline Williams; paternal grandmother, Sophia Williams; uncle, Louis Williams; and sister, Deborah Williams. She is survived by her loving sons, Shannon Alexander and Joshua Cunningham; mother, Winnie Childers; father, Eddie Childers; sisters, Degra Childers, Dametra Carey and Marie Jackson; brothers, Ryan Childers and Eddie Childers Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
