Anna Mae Scruggs

Anna Mae Scruggs (Graham) age 83 years young, entered heaven’s gate on Thursday, May 25th 2017. She was born on June 28, 1933, in Bethel, Kentucky. Anna attended Dubois High School in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky where she enjoyed being a majorette. She was known as Annie Mae in her teenage years and now as an adult, Miss Anna. In the early 70’s Anna worked as a teacher’s aide for Columbus City Schools. She later moved to Arizona was employed at Motorola Communications for many years. Several years later she returned to Columbus, OH and became a childcare provider for daycare centers throughout Columbus. Anna was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with children and her grandchildren. A servant of her fellow human beings, Anna was a foster parent to many children and volunteered at local food pantries. In addition, she worked assisting the elderly. Anna, who truly loved the Lord, served as a faithful member of St. Philip Evangelical Lutheran Church. She served as a volunteer assisting in the food pantry, and also became involved in an organization within the church called Women On the Move. Proceeded in death by her beloved parents Johnny and Loretta Scruggs, sisters Sarah Rash, Bertha Lee Turney, Stella Ruth “Rooney” Potts and brothers John “TD” Scruggs Jr. and Monroe “Money” Scruggs. Anna is survived by her loving children, Anita (Mick) Lewis, Charles (Danette) Graham Jr., Steven (Anita) Graham and Edward (Yvette) Graham; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maggie Jones (Kentucky), Audrey Lathern (Dayton) and Mary Opal (Kentucky) and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, extended family and friends.
