Annie B. (Burkes) Halliburton was born February 2,1920 to Laura (Alexander) Burkes and Joe Burkes in Ripley, Tennessee. Annie 8 was the youngest offive children. Her mother and father, brothers Joe, James, and John Burkes; and sister Nellie Mae Rogers (Wayland) preceded her in death. Annie B. attended Lauderdale County Training School in Ripley, TN where she graduated second in her class. She later enrolled at Tennessee State University. Annie B. loved music and she loved to dance; therefore, it is fitting that she would meet John Wesley Halliburton on her way to a dance in Tennessee. Annie B. often said, I love to see men who are well-dressed and good-looking. So, she quickly decided that John Wesley Halliburton, a kind and good-looking man, could meet her mate criteria. She and John (he called her Ann) were married for 56 years until John's death in 2006. John and Ann moved to Detroit early in their marriage where Jan Winifred (Greg) and John Mark (Cheryl) were added to their union. Although John and Ann were church workers most of their lives, it was in Detroit where they made the decision to allow God to be the center of their lives. After John and Ann's move to Columbus Ohio in 2004, she began to write for Shiloh's weekly church bulletin. The topics ranged from holiday celebrations to other areas that affirmed her beliefs and thoughts. She loved to read and write and continued to do so until the final years of her life. Her laughter was full of warmth until she could only smile at visitors and good¬looking, well-dressed men, She was described as a sweet-but often feisty-person at Summit's Trace Assisted Living, and later, the facility's nursing home where she resided in her final years. Ann Halliburton leaves behind her son John Mark (Cheryl), and daughter Jan (Greg); grandchildren Ebony Halliburton, Cedric (Keisha) Halliburton, Karmyn (Adam) Metzger; great-grand children Elijah John, Ophelia Ann, and Leo Douglas Metzger; and a soon-to-be great-grand child for Cedric and Keisha Halliburton. Nieces and nephews including Lucia (Malcom) Greene, and great and great-great nieces and nephews in Michigan, Illinois and other parts will remember and share stories about her life. Friends and loved ones, including son R.J., Rena Davis and Beverly Elam will reflect on her life, as well. If Ann Halliburton could speak today, she would say as she often did, God has been so good to us,
