Annie Gibbs

Annie Ruth Gibbs was born Sunday, April 28, 1946, in Council, North Carolina, to Wheeler Owens and Sir Willis McLean Drye. She married Alfred Gibbs in 1967, and from that union, they had one child, Kimberly. Annie graduated from Nursing School in Buffalo, New York. She retired from Mohun Healthcare Center in 2016.

Annie joined The Columbus Bible Way Church, Inc., in 1994. She was an avid and dedicated prayer warrior and involved in many of the organizations of the church, including Women’s Fellowship, member of numerous choirs, as well as being the director of the choirs. She also wrote many of the songs that were sung during her leadership as director.

Blessed with seventy-six years of life, our beloved Annie R. Gibbs entered eternal rest on Friday, January 13, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Gibbs; father, Wheeler Owens; mother, Sir Willis McLean Drye; two brothers, James Drye and MacMurry Drye; nephew, Kent Green; and close friends, Donna Kincannon, Ruth Booker, and Mary Hill.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Gibbs; grandson, Dominique Gibbs; sisters, Shelia Darroman-Charles and Eleanor (Alious) Wheeler of Amherst, New York; nieces, Nicole Drye and Deirdre Green; special friends, Roberta Curry, Monica Holmes, Sister Catherine Chen; special cousin, Jane Singletary; and close friends from the Mohun Healthcare Center.
