Annie Mabel Watkins

Annie M. Watkins was born on April 5, 1918, in Americus, Georgia. She departed this life on October 7, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie M. Watkins in 2001, and her parents, William and Annie Lou Douglas. She was a graduate of East High School and an active, longtime member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. She was a writer for the Columbus Call and Post Newspaper and the Alum Crest Ackers News Letter. Annie was a member of the Hanford Village branch American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Columbus Cupidette Club. She was also a diligent community worker. Annie Mabel departed this life on Monday, October 7, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Eddie M Watkins Jr. (Suellen); two daughters, C. Yvonne Ross, Cheryl Stafford; six grandchildren, Richard Ross Jr., Regina Walker, Mechelle Stafford, and Lamont, Tamal and Kyle Watkins; 12 great-grandchildren; and beloved cousins, Mary Booker of Canton, Ohio and Jerry Cox, of Brooklyn, New York.
