ANTHONY LEE FRENCH, SR. was born in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, November 8, 1941, to the union of Mary and Albert French, Sr. He was the fifth of seven children. Anthony was affectionately called “Tony” by family and friends. Tony received his formal education from Columbus City Schools and was a proud 1959 graduate of East High School. Also in ‘59, he received a Certificate of Merit – Ohio State Journal Newspaper Carrier Award. Tony furthered his education at Franklin University earning an Associate of Public Administration in 1981 and a Bachelor of Business and Technology in 1994. Tony was an Air Force Veteran. Following his service to his country, he was employed with the United States Postal Service. He retired with 44 dedicated years of service. In his leisure, Tony loved to play basketball. He also had an interest in photography, traveling, and learning African American studies. Anthony Lee French, Sr., age 78, departed this life on Thursday, October 29, 2020. He was predeceased by his father, Albert French, Sr.; mother, Mary French; brothers, Donald “Ducky” French, William “Billy” French, and Albert “Apple” French Jr.; and sisters, Joann Ward and Rosetta Smith. Celebrating his life and cherishing his memory are his sons, David Lamar Fennell and Anthony (Davonna) Lee French II; sister, Anita Bell; grandchildren, Anthony French III, Antoine French, Aravia French, Jordyn Burton, and Lo’ran Russell; great grandchildren, Trejan Russell, Jamauree Russell, Alayah Russell, Anylah Russell, and Avianna Russell; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

We encourage you to utilize Anthony's memorial celebration wall to view his video tribute, send flowers and post an expression of sympathy and support for the family. A receptacle will also be available for on-site collection of sympathy cards and condolence letters.
