Anton "C Magic " Colvin, Sr.

Anton Vermel Colvin, Sr. was born in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, January 22, 1975. He was the son of Ruth Colvin-Graves and Thomas Okey Mason, Sr. At an early age, Anton developed a love of art. He would sketch and draw for hours. In middle school, his art was selected for fundraising projects and various logos. Anton also loved to dance. He enjoyed hip-hop, flipping, spinning. Whatever the current dance craze was, Anton performed it. His parents, reflected on how glad they kept good medical insurance. With entrepreneurial aspirations, Anton incorporated his love of music into a business. Known as “C-Magic,” an extraordinary DJ, Anton opened a recording studio in Columbus where he engineered beats for aspiring “Rap” artists. His soundtracks made impressions on several established “Rappers” in the business. Anton had national appeal from Columbus to New York and Atlanta to California. His collection of records allowed him to re-mix anything from R&B, Gospel, Classical, and Rap music. When Anton was around three years old, his mother taught him a song that they shared . . . Mom: “You’re my son. Anton: I am your son. Mom: and I’m your mother. Anton: and you’re my mother. Mom: and I love you. Anton: and I love you.” Anton said, “Mom, I am going to lay down some tracks one day for our song and you can sing it.” I said to him, “You really want to keep people hiring you, don’t you? Ok . . . Just don’t let ya’mama sing!!” As I turned away, I heard him say under his breath, “What was I thinking?” One of Anton’s greatest accomplishments was becoming a loving, caring father. He enjoyed spending time with all his children from praying to playing video games, listening to music, and attending their educational activities. He especially loved attending all their sports’ activities. Anton always encouraged them to graduate high school and college. Anton “C-Magic” V. Colvin, Sr., age 46, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Matthew and Ada Colvin and aunt, Vada Pearsall. Loving memories are cherished by his parents: mother, Ruth Colvin-Graves; father, Thomas Okey Mason, Sr., and stepfather, Wesley C. Graves; sons, Anton V. Colvin Jr., Ty’von R. Colvin, Ta’von J. Colvin, and Delano Prince; daughter, La’Keiah S. Carroll; brothers, Wesley Gilliam and Kevin Gillian; sister, December N. Brown; aunts and uncles, Willie & Martha Colvin, Thomas & Charlotte Colvin, Samual L. Colvin, Lonnie Pearsall, Ethel Shelton, Carolyn Joyce, and Gladys Waters; his loving cousins, Kenneth (Reggie) Joyce and Winnona Morrow; sister-in-law, Nina Gillian; son-in-law, Ryan Brown; godbrother, Cecil Forrest; childhood friend, Tonya Turns; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
