Harding Roosevelt Chandler (aka Antwine Succonnino Chandler) was born on August 16, 1923 to Ben and Janie Chandler in Opelika, Alabama. He was the tenth of eleven children. He moved to West Virginia after the passing of his parents. He lived for a while with his oldest brother, Willie and other family members before eventually living with his brother, Fred. He attended Pulaski Middle School and Roosevelt High School where he played on the basketball team. He entered into the U.S. Navy in June of 1942 and served during World War II and was honorably discharged. He loved to be involved with helping young men in the inner city with football and basketball leagues. He would become a “father-like-figure” to those he worked with. He was employed at Riverside Methodist Hospital where he met Lorraine Cobb. They married on March 19, 1979 and to this union, one son, Antwine and one daughter, Antoinette were born. He enjoyed spending time with his family at football, basketball and baseball games. He loved family outings, fishing, boating and school trips. He found great joy being there for the births of his grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Janie Chandler; sisters, Sarah Parker and Lola Melton; brothers, Willie, King, Ben, Fred, Corley, Charles and Otis Chandler. He leaves a legacy of love to his loving wife of thirty-three years, Lorraine; loving son, Antwine (Shay), loving daughter, Antoinette of Columbus, Ohio.; sister, Janie Wyatt; sisters-in-law, Geraldine and Lillie Chandler of Gary Indiana; mother-in-law, Delores McIntyre; brothers-in-law, Larry and Jeffrey McIntyre of Columbus, Ohio; grandsons, Savion, Sean, Jevonn, Braxton; granddaughters, Nyomie, Alasia, Gracesyn other relatives and friends.
