Arlene Madry

Arlene Madry, age 69, of Columbus, OH, passed away on 11/20/23 at 6:25pm at home in the care of her two sons and youngest granddaughter.

Arlene was born in Shelbyville, KY on 12/21/1953 to William Earl and Kathleen Sheppard Johnson.

She was accepted to Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Waddy, KY.

She began her career working at General Electric Co. in Frankfort KY, before later switching her career path that took her in the direction of Chillicothe, OH where she started her 32 year career for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation at Ross Correctional Institution, and later finishing her career retiring from Franklin Medical Correction Center after serving 20 years there. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards with her youngest granddaughter from Ohio, cooking Sunday dinners for her grandson and son, and visiting her grandchildren in Kentucky engaging in singing contest with them.

Arlene is preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Johnson, father, William Earl Bailey, brothers, James Earl Bailey(Boo), Leslie Bailey, Rodney Bailey (Sugar Bear). Surviving family includes son, Kevin Bailey, spouse, Kym Bailey, of Shelbyville KY), son, Terron Bailey of Hilliard, OH; three sisters, Jeanie Jones (Lewis), Sandra Jones, Sherry Bell (Don); Bobby Wayne Bailey, Edward Thomas Bailey (ET), Robert Lee Bailey of KY; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends that she touched and made lasting impressions on their lives.

For who I was and who you are, For who we were to each other, shall we forever remain the same. My wish is that my memories be of happy ones leaving a trail of glowing smiles and leaving echoing cherished memories of what my life meant to others. May you in your time live in the bright days of sunshine and forever be shielded from the cloudy days of grief, for my absence is temporary and if you search in your heart and soul you will find me there with loving, accepting arms.
