Arneta V. Brown went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on January 23, 2024.
She was born on March 30, 1950, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was a very dedicated and a very faithful member of the Bride of Christ Ministries Holiness Church for over 30 years. She was actively involved in the ministries of the church where she served as Church Greeter, Hospitality Committee Leader, Announcer, Neighborhood and City-Wide Outreach Ministries, and she was involved with the Children's Ministries. She was faithful and very dedicated to the church and Mission in Haiti. She was a member of the Future Teachers Club at East High School, where she received her diploma in 1969. Pursing her lifelong desire to become a schoolteacher, she graduated from the Kent State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. In her continued quest to teach children to learn, she pursued higher learning and knowledge, in education and received her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Dayton. She was employed by the Columbus City School system for over 30 years where she first served as an elementary schoolteacher and later promoted to the position of Vice-Principal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis & Ruby Whitmire, Grandparents, Dennis & Pauline Whitmire, and Robert & Novella Hardy.
Survived by loving and faithful husband of 42 years, Larry Brown. Their union was blessed with two beautiful children, David L, and Michael L, (Hillary) loving brothers, Dennis M. Whitmire, (Janice), Timothy C. Whitmire, Kenneth Whitmire, (Ronda), and her loving sister and Pastor Theresa Whitmire. Three precious grandchildren, Mia-Lanae N. Brown, Harmony Mae Brown, and Hailey Melika Hayes; Mother-in-law, Geraldine M. Brown, Five Sisters-in-law, Diane, Deborah, Donna, Denesse, and Drena. Two brothers-in-law, Percy III, and Lennie, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Arneta was dearly loved and was called by many endearing names by those who dearly loved her. She was called "Nita Baby," by her loving husband, "Mother and Mom" by her sons, "Grandma" by her grandchildren," Nita," by her brothers and sister, and her special name by her only sister, was "Sister dear." She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten by those who knew and loved her.
