Arthur Hensley

I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Arthur Ricardo Hensley, fondly known as ‘Pookie’, age 57, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He was born on October 24,1966 at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio to Arthur Bell and Rev. Dr. Zawadi Yaashantawa. Arthur graduated from Marion-Franklin High School in 1985, where he ran on the cross-country team.

Arthur worked at the Burger King Restaurant in the Greyhound Bus Station as a teen. From there he went on to work in housekeeping at The Great Southern Hotel in downtown Columbus. He then worked at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as an orderly. Lastly, he worked in the Sanitation Department at The T. Marzetti Company in Clintonville for 28 ½ years. Arthur was a member of The Union Grove Baptist Church.

He was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. His great loves were spending time with his family and friends, going out to great restaurants and traveling. He also very much loved working on his model cars and trucks in his spare time.

Arthur is preceded in death by his father Arthur Bell, and brothers, William K. Hensley and Ronald L. Hensley.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Dietra La’Rae Hensley, daughter Kiara Lynaé Hensley, and son Ricardo Lee Hensley, mother Reverend Dr. Zawadi Yaashantawa, stepfather Arthur Little, brothers Antoyne Bell, Arthur James (Yvette) Bell Jr. , and Brian Keith Hensley; sisters Joyce Denise (Tyree) Perry, Darlyn Bell, Donita Turner and Deveda Bell; and a host of family and friends.
