(Swayzer) Slate; sister, Diane (Clarence) Reavling; sons, Steven (Yvette) Slate and Anthony (Tamyka) Slate and five grandchildren, Schyler, Tahje, Tianna, Julian and Ryan. Further, during his successful career in state, county and city government, Art would continue to be a vocal opponent against racial disparities and injustice and instrumental in correcting those inequities and helping those who were affected by those imbalances. In 1983, Art and his wife Margo founded Capital Cleaning Company and enjoyed 27 years of fruitful business ownership. Art also continued to play his clarinet for the Clintonville Community Band and St. Thomas the Apostle Church Choir.
