Arthur Lynward 'Sonny' Reid

Arthur Lynward Reid was born December 31, 1952 in Griffin, Georgia. As a child, he moved with his family to Columbus, Ohio where he attended Linden-McKinley High School. He was more affectionately known as “Sonny” by those who knew and loved him best. Sonny enjoyed spending time with his family for holiday gatherings, backyard cookouts in the summer, and the annual Trick-or-Treat costume parade that was once a cherished tradition among his grandchildren and great nieces when they were small. He often liked partaking in a big, juicy cheeseburger and a cold pop (preferably Orange Sunkist) when possible, and as of late, biscuits and gravy had become a favorite and regular meal request. On October 29, 2017, at the age of 64, Arthur “Sonny” Reid quietly transitioned to his eternal rest while at Arbors East Care Center in Columbus. He was preceded in death by his father Charlie Frank Ellis, stepfather Marvin K. Ware, Sr., and his sister, Mary Ann Reid, who faithfully visited Sonny and saw to his needs for many years before her passing in 2014. Those who remain to cherish memories of Sonny include his loving mother Lois E. Ware; devoted nephew and caregiver, Christopher Corey Reid; two daughters, Rina (Tremel) Dunkin of Columbus, Ohio, and Anitra (Darryl Jr.) Lambert of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, Darryl Lambert, III, Dasan Lawrence, Makaila Lambert, Azana Lawrence, and Kayden Lambert; great nieces, Sade Simone Singleton and Leila Suarez Reid (who also affectionately called him “Grandpa”); aunts, Hattie Sue Reid of Columbus, and Gladys Reid of Los Angeles, California; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and close family friends.
