Barbara A. Green, affectionately known as "Bunky" and "Mother Green", was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 14, 1931 to Aaron Leslie and Kathryn (Wells) Leslie. Barbara was the fourth of four children born to Aaron and Kathryn. A life-long resident of Columbus, Barbara graduated from East High School in 1948. Upon graduation from high school, she married Clarence R. Green. She and Clarence had three daughters, Jennifer, Joyce and Janet. Barbara and Clarence remained married for thirty-two years. Barbara worked as a contract specialist for the Defense Construction Supply Center (now known as "DSCC") until her retirement in 1987. Upon her retirement, Barbara pursued her passion for quilting, collecting dolls, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara was a member of Quilters for Christ, African Parrish House Quilters, and Friends of Art for Community Enrichment (FACE). Barbara's quilts have been displayed in local museums throughout the community. Barbara was also a supporter of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch of the Columbus Public Library. Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother. She helped care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many of whom affectionately called her "Mee-maw." She was blessed by God to have spent many precious moments with her beloved daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Barbara was a long-time member of Faith Ministries Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. C. Dexter Wise III. She later joined Advent United Church of Christ, Rev. Colin Jones and Rev. Dr. Imani Jones, Co-Pastors. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Kathryn Leslie, her sister Marye (Sylvester) Hargrow, and her brother George "Bud" Leslie.
