Barbara Thompson, age 85, born July 17, 1934 in Columbus, OH, went to be home with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. She was a graduate of East High School and retired from The Ohio State University. Barbara was a member of Temple of Compassion Church where she shared her love for Jesus Christ. In Him, she found a best friend. Barbara was loved by many and always had you laughing! You couldn't have a bad day without her making you laugh or trying to fight! Lol. She was preceded in death by her husband Hershel Ray Thompson, parents Deacons Daniel and Ovetta Munnerlyn, sister Phyllis Smith, brother Theodore Brown, Jr., biological father Theodore Brown, Sr., and close friend Barbara Smoot. Barbara is survived by her five children, Hershel Thompson, Jr., Elaine Robinson, Anthony (Raynetta) Thompson, Ernestine (Terry) Johnson, and Gregory Thompson; sisters, Dianne (James) Sicery of California, and Shirley Munnerlyn of Ohio; grandchildren, Sharon (Curtis) Ward, Chris Thompson, Eric Thompson, Donny (Misty) Thompson and Terri Ann (Charles) Stanford; a host of great grandchildren, including Chaniqua Berry, Jayquan Thompson, Jaymon Cornett, Anthony and Trayveon (Terri Ann), to name a few; and great-great grandchildren including Jenya, Makenzie, and Rose'Anna (Chaniqua); sister-in-law Teresa Brown of California; other relatives and dear friends, including Fern Moore and JoAnne Roy.

Beginning at 9:00 am, doors will open for a walk-through viewing with staggered admission of up to 10 people at a time. For the mutual wellness and respect of those present, all visitors are asked to wear an appropriate face covering, apply an alcohol-based hand sanitizer spray upon entry, and maintain proper distancing according to current public health guidelines. We encourage you to utilize Barbara's memorial celebration wall to view her video tribute, send flowers and post an expression of sympathy and support for the family. A receptacle will also be available for on-site collection of sympathy cards and condolence letters.
