Barbara Elaine (Turner) Johnson

Barbara Elaine (Turner) Johnson was born to the late Coleman and Marie Turner on October 12, 1945 in Urbancrest, Ohio. She attended Urbancrest Elementary and Grove City High School. Barbara was baptized at an early age at Union Baptist Church in Urbancrest, Ohio and reunited with the Lord later in life. After high school, she united in marriage to Alfred Johnson, Sr. and to that union had six wonderful children. Barbara retired from Columbus Developmental Center (CDC). Her favorite hobbies were BINGO and cooking for her family and friends. Barbara loved to shop and travel. She just loved life. Barbara was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her daughter Stephanie, brothers, Ronald, Leon, Lawrence, Robert, and Kenneth, and sisters, Mildred, Ossaleen, Doris, and Margaret. She leaves to cherish in her memory, four sons, Alfred (Yvette) Johnson, Eric Johnson (Teresa), Andrae (Andrea) Johnson, and Steffon Johnson (Laura); one daughter Monica Johnson (Howard); nine grandchildren, one great grandchild; brother Ralph Turner; sister Donna Burgess; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family would also like to thank Sara Firstenberger (Home Health Nurse) and the staff of DaVita Dialysis West. Celebration of Life 2 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2011 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the start of service. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.
