Benjamin A. Mobley, 79, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2022. He was born in Montclair, New Jersey where he was a star athlete in football, basketball and track. A graduate of Montclair High School in 1961. He was recruited by Coach Woody Hayes to play football for The Ohio State University. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1966 with a B.A. in Education and then graduated from Central Michigan University with a Master’s in Business Administration.
Ben was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War.
Ben worked for over 30 years at State Farm Insurance Company as a Superintendent of Underwriting before retiring in 2006.
Ben was an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. for 60 years and served in several leadership positions at his church, Wesley Church of Hope United Methodist Church. Ben enjoyed attending and watching Ohio State football games and traveling with his family.
Ben is preceded in death by his father Bennie Mobley, mother Lula West Mobley, sister Evelyn Booker and granddaughter Miriama Mobley. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Helena Mobley, son Benjamin Mobley Jr (Sherry), daughter Marlynn Barnes (Antoine), ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 720 E Long St. Columbus, Ohio. Family visitation will be held at 9:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Glen Rest Cemetery.
