Bernice Jeanette Brown

DEACONESS BERNICE JEANNETTE BROWN was born Friday, July 27, 1934, to John Wyche and Florence Harris Vaugh, in Columbus, Ohio. She gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, February 19, 2022. She was blessed with 87 years of life. Mother Brown was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to all who knew her. She was also well loved and respected within her community. Mother Brown was educated by Columbus Public Schools. She graduated from Central High Adult Education. Sister Brown began her professional career at Lazarus where she retired. She later embarked on a second career at Nationwide Insurance as a mail room associate. Mother Brown was a proud member of Burnside Missionary Baptist Church where was she sang in the church choir and served as a Deaconess. Mother Brown was preceded in death by her parents, John Wyche and Florence Harris Vaugh; husband, Joe “JT” Brown; son, Tommie Brown; brothers, James Harris, William “Nathaniel” Harris, Lester Harris, and Richard Percy Harris; and sister, Elizabeth Harris. She leaves to cherish her loving memories with her devoted granddaughter, Ashley Brown (Andy) Montgomery of Loudonville, Ohio; great grandsons, Kyrie and Isaiah; sisters-in-law, Ella Harris and Gladys Winston; close cousin, Louise White; close family friends, Joyce Gunn, Paulette Callendar, Joyce Ford, and Genieve Kelley; caretaker, Claudia Montgomery; daughter-in-law, Christina (Tommie) Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends that will miss her.
