Bertha Jean Brooks

August 5, 1941 — August 3, 2022

Mrs. Bertha Jean Brooks lived in Dublin, Ohio and was married to Curtis Brooks, Sr. for 60+ years. They had one son, Curtis Brooks, Jr. (Julie) of Plymouth, Michigan. Bertha and Curtis have 2 grandchildren, Bennett and Grace. She was born on August 5, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee to Charles and Mary Bennett. Bertha was blessed with two brothers, Charles Bennett, Jr. and Sgt. Robert Bennett; two sisters, Mary Bennett and Rose Marie Jackson, all preceded her in death. She leaves two sisters-in law, Rose Simms and Anna Turner. She was also beloved by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was a long-time member of New Salem Baptist Church in Columbus, OH, where she served faithfully as an usher for many years until her health declined. Bertha was an excellent cook. She took great pleasure in preparing meals for her family; especially big southern breakfasts for her grandchildren. She enjoyed eating out, as well, and was often seen carrying travel-size tabasco bottles in her purse where she liberally added the sauce to her favorite dishes! During their marriage, Bertha enjoyed traveling to many destinations around the world with Curtis. -- She was a prolific bowler as she and Curtis participated in several bowling leagues in the earlier years of their marriage. She loved watching sports. It wasn't unusual for her to organize her schedule around Chicago Bears & Buckeyes football games and Serena Williams tennis matches! Through her smile, laughter, gentle presence and love of the Lord, Bertha touched and inspired many.
