Betty J Shelton

Betty Jean (Fisher) Ragland-Shelton was born May 5, 1930 to parents John Howard Fisher, Sr. and Naomi Frances Berry-Fisher. Betty grew up in Columbus and received her education in the Columbus Public Schools and graduated from New California High School (Dublin Jerome High School). She earned her LPN Nursing Degree from The Ohio State University and did her internship at Grant hospital. She worked at various hospitals. Betty married Sidney K. Ragland, Sr., and to this union four sons were born. Betty joined Bethany in August 1948 and was baptized by Pastor A. L. Mason. In 1991 Betty and Willie Ben Shelton were united in marriage by Rev. Dr. A. Wilson Wood. Betty loved her family, and enjoyed taking family vacations, fishing and camping. She has visited the Holy Lands twice with Rev. Dr. A. Wilson Wood and her church family. Betty was a LPN Nurse for 40 years, after retiring she was a Professional Childcare Provider, Private Duty Nurse, Mary Kay Consultant, Product Demonstrator. She was a longtime member of the Bethany Baptist Church Nurses Corp., the Bethany Baptist Church Choir, the Simultaneous Revival Choir, Rebecca Arnold Mission Circle, member of the Ohio PTA, she was Employee of the Month while working as a private duty nurse for the Medical Personnel Pool. Betty was also a member of the Tuskegee Ohio Memorial Chapter and the Eastern Star. Betty was preceded in death by husbands, Sidney K. Ragland, Sr., Willie Ben Shelton; sons, Arthur E. Ragland, Retired Chief Petty Officer Daniel E. Ragland, Sr. (USCG); brothers, John Howard Fisher, Jr., Albert E. Fisher, Sr.; granddaughter, Sonya A. Ragland-Davis; daughter-in-law, Avenell Ragland. Betty leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Sidney K. Ragland, Jr. (Atlanta, GA), Robert W. (Sheila) Ragland, Sr. (Columbus, OH); daughter-in-law, Genevieve Germy Ragland (Robe Sound, FL); sisters, Bertha Johnson (Long Beach, CA), Naomi D. Fisher (Columbus, OH); brothers Carl (Anita) Fisher (Columbus, OH), Jack (Ruthann) Fisher (Delaware, OH); brother-in-law, Rev. Raleigh B. (Stella) Ragland (Decatur, GA); sister-in-laws, Annette Fisher (Delaware, OH), Lillis Fisher (Delaware, OR), Patricia Fleming (Columbus, OR), Dorcas Smith (Columbus, OH); grand children, Sharon A. (Chris) Cotton (Gaston, S.C.), Sakia A. Ragland (Charlotte, N.C.), Sidney A. (Natalie) Ragland, Sr. (Atlanta, GA), Shelton T A. Ragland (Charlotte, N.C.), Danielle L.
