Brett Allen Barnet, 51, departed this life, January 14, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, David L. Barnett and Ann Mae Brown Barnett; brothers, Williard and Martin Barnett. Survived by his loving daughter, Brittany (Justin) Wooden; brothers, Leon (Betty) Howard, David (Kaye) Barnett, Wendell Barnett of Houston, Texas; cousins, George and Gail Barnett, a host of nieces and nephews. Brett attended East High School where he played varsity football and was on the wrestling team. After high school, Brett went to work for his dad at Georges Dye Shop and repaired shoes. Later he started his own shoe shine stand at Swans Cleaners downtown. Soon after, he married and had a daughter, Brittany which was the apple of his eye. He spent a lot of time with her and lovingly watched over her as she grew up. Brett had a lot of obstacles that he had to struggle with; losing his legs and his bout with cancer were among some of them. Through it all, Brittany was there loving him and caring for him until the very end.
