Bruce Rice was born on February 10, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to the union of Bruce & Myrtle Rice.
Bruce graduated from Central High School and received his Correspondence Certification. Bruce Rice met Betty Clayborn at the age of 9 where their love and friendship extended many years. Bruce Rice and Betty Clayborn later married on Oct 5, 1949 in Columbus OH. He was later married to Doris Moore from 2001 until she passed away in September of 2020.
Bruce was employed by Gustav Hirsch from the young age of 15 where his mother Myrtle was also employed. With his knowledge and expertise he became an Electrical Contractor and worked 6 years in Thailand, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam. He also worked with NASA while living in California.
Bruce Rice, accepted Christ at an early age and fully rededicated his life in 2001. He was a faithful member and servant at Second Baptist Church for several years. He later joined and became a devoted member of Judah Christian Community Church in 2009.
He was a faithful member until the end at Judah and assisted with the Monthly Produce Community Outreach program, and loved sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ at Whitehall Manor Nursing Home. He also enjoyed helping to serve Friday night dinners to the residents of Whitehall. Bruce also participated in March for Freedom Columbus, to bring awareness to human trafficking and was a member of the men’s group the Band of Brothers.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Myrtle Rice, his Sister Dorothea Hairston, his Brother Melvin Howard, and his wife Doris Rice.
Surviving Family includes; Son Stephen (Mariquita) Rice, Son Gerald (Eileen) Rice; Son Michael (Teri) Rice; Daughter Cattarya (Gary) Core; Son Bruce A. (Krista) Rice, Daughters Victoria Moore and LaZandra Oliver. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at 6:00 pm at Judah Christian Community Church, 972 Beechwood Rd., Whitehall OH.
