Carl Lee Sr

January 11, 1933 — September 7, 2016

Carl William Lee, Sr. was born January 11, 1933 in Queens, New York. He was the youngest child of Wayman Lee and Lillian Moore Lee. In 1950, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country honorably for twenty years as a diet specialist. While in the military, he played football. In 1970, Carl retired from Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas. He then moved his family to Columbus, Ohio, where he began a second career with the United States Postal Service and retired with twenty years of service. During this time, Carl continued his education and graduated from Bliss College. Carl loved to cook for family and friends and his specialty was GUMBO. He was a devoted member of the Prince Hall Masonic Family for over fifty years, in which he held several offices to include Past Master of King David Lodge No. 116 and Past Potentate of Alla Baba Temple No. 53. Carl was appointed to serve as Imperial Deputy of the Desert for the State of Ohio. He was elevated to a 33rd Degree Mason, and was a dedicated member of Grace Chapter No. 100, Order of the Eastern Star. On September 7, 2016, at the age of 83, Carl departed this life after a long battle with cancer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Carl Lee, Jr., Ronald Lee, and Arnold Lee, and a brother, Donald Lee. Left to cherish his memories of Carl are his daughters, Kathryn (Marshall) Robinson and Kim Lee; son, Franklin Lee; brothers, Wayman Lee, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Lawrence (Fran) Lee of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Wilbert Lee of Boston, Massachusetts; daughter-in-law, Nickie Lee; and a host grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family, and friends.
