Carla Sawyer

Carla Yvette Sawyer, age 63, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at The Ohio State University Medical Center. She was born on December 31, 1951 to the late Rosa and William Sawyer of Columbus, Ohio. Carla graduated from East High School in 1970 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Otterbein College in 1974. Soon after, she began to pursue her passion of teaching pre-school. She later became an active, long-time employee of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Carla is survived by her two daughters, Danita Sawyer (Rahman Jackson) and Denitra Sawyer; sisters, Chrystal (Stanley) Barnes and Colleen Dugger; brother, Craig Sawyer; two grandchildren, Asaan and Jordan Jackson; many other relatives, and a long list of friends whom she loved dearly.
