Carol Sue Montgomery

Carol Sue Montgomery was called home to rest on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Sue was born on December 24, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert and Frieda Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Montgomery, Aunt Ella Smart, adopted sister Loretta Fincher and adopted daughter Dawna Foster. She leaves behind an aunt and uncle, Roberta and Joseph Tillman, two sisters, Ruth Ann Montgomery and Sandra K. Montgomery, two daughters, Robyn Montgomery (Ervin) who was her caregiver and Renata Norman (Randy), two sons Quentin Montgomery and Urice Ross (Janice), seven grandchildren Randall Norman II, Remington Norman, Malik Holstein, Lorenzo Miller, Dante Foster, Robbie Washington, Geneva Washington, two nephews Jaman T. Botts, Jian Allen (Kristen), nieces Tina Montgomery and Carlotta Fincher special friend Howard Tidwell, a pet dog named Rico and a host of other relatives and friends. Sue grew up in Poindexter Village with her family and a large extended family. Living in Poindexter, she became very close friends with Loretta Fincher, and they were like sisters. Not only did she raise her two daughters, but she informally adopted her neighbor’s granddaughter, Dawna Foster, and also took in her nephew Quentin. She was affectionately known as “Mama Sue” to many neighbors and friends. She worked at CMACAO for several years prior to landing a job at General Motors in 1976, and retired from GM in 2006. During her life, Sue made several lifelong friends including Barbara Tolber, Bertile Adams, Carolyn Collins, Curtis Brooks (deceased), Eddie Tucker, Madelyn Young, Mary Wilder, Melonese Wells, Sheila Hitchcock (deceased), Stanley Botts and The Friends from the Hood Club. During her illness she was lovingly cared for by caregivers Michele Overby, Marva Walker and Terry Hunt.
