Charles Allen Hughes

Charles A. Hughes Husband, Son, Father, Brother, Uncle, & Friend Charles Allen Hughes, 82, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away at a local Nursing Home, following a long illness on Thursday, May 10, 2018. Born September 20, 1935, in Pemberton, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, May Belle Hughes; Father, Allen Hughes Sr.; Mother, Ella Hughes, Step-Mother, Mary Hughes; Brothers, Frankie Hughes & Lawrence Ward. Survivors include one son, Lonnie (Shawndyl) Hughes of Beckley, WV; three daughters, Carole (John) Ricks of Essex, Vermont; Jacqueline (Freeman) West, and Kristina Cook, both of Columbus OH. Two brothers, Allen Hughes Jr. of Columbus, OH, and Carl Ward of Glen White, WV. Five sisters, Naomi Chapman of Detroit, MI; Thelma Hughes-Turner of Columbus, OH; Vernell Spain and Gwendolyn Grant, both of Beckley, WV; and Phyllis Chappell of MD. A special friend, Rosemary Siravo of Columbus, OH. Grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many friends. Charles served in the United States Army Charles retired as a Columbus City School bus driver.
