Charles Anthony Ferguson was born January 21, 1960, to the late Irwin Ferguson, Jr. and Lugenia Pearman Ferguson at US Army Hospital, La Chapelle-St. Mesmin, Loiret, France. Being a part of a military family Charles was educated in many school systems and graduated from Marion-Franklin High School, Columbus, Ohio. Charles loved his Southfield Community; he looked forward to attending the Southfield Reunion. He was on the swim and dive teams at Marion-Franklin Swimming Pool. He loved to dance (have you seen his famous dance moves), listen to music, roller skate (he could pearl with the best) and watch sports on TV. He loved to be with his family. When Charles would show up to spend time with family and friends he would always bring something to share. He loved to give his nieces and nephews a buck for luck or two dollar bills. Charles was a man who loved life. He worked many jobs; one of his early jobs was an ice cream truck driver in Columbus, Ohio. At an early age Charles was baptized and gave his life to God. He was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Columbus, Ohio and Quinn Chapel A.M. E. Church, Marion, Ohio. Charles has always been in God’s care. He was permanently disabled after an auto accident when he was struck by a drunk driver. With continued prayer and love from his mother, family and friends along with God’s Grace and Mercy Charles lived a life that God intended. Won’t God do it! Charles was not ashamed to tell his story about how good God was to him and how he turned his life around. He knew God could do anything but fail. He loved to attend church. He was in pain and struggled to climb the stairs to get in church the Sunday before he passed, but he made it. He was happy to be in the house of the Lord and worship God. Charles was proud of his independence and took care of all his personal affairs before being called home. Wednesday May 2, 2018, God called Charles Ferguson’s name and he departed this life. He was preceded in death by his parents Irwin Ferguson, Jr. and Lugenia Pearman Ferguson; sister-in-law Terri Coleman Ferguson Rozelle; nephews, Kenneth L. Ferguson and Angel Lemon; grandparents, uncles and aunts. Those he leaves to leave to celebrate his life and cherish his memories are brothers, Kenneth I. Ferguson and Jerome T. (Dawn) Ferguson, all of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Deborah A. (James) Corley, of Indianapolis, Indiana and Brenda J. (Lennie) Glass, of Columbus, Ohio; aunts, Josephine Persha, St. Petersburg, Florida and Tina Ross-Whitlow, Columbus, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
