Charles Edward Leonard was born September 11, 1939 to Robert and Betty Leonard of Birmingham, Alabama. Charles relocated from Birmingham to Cleveland, Ohio, where he met and married Clementine Bradberry. Retired from McDowell Wellman, where he worked as an overhead crane operator, Charles later started his own landscaping and snow removal business. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with El Hasa Temple in Cleveland, Ohio. Charles was an active member of Mt. Haven Baptist Church, where he served on the usher and trustee boards, bus ministry, and church maintenance. Upon leaving Mt. Haven, he later joined Providence Baptist Church. Charles shared a love of helping the elderly, tending to his lawn, gardening, rooting for the Cleveland Browns, spending time with his grandchildren, and sitting on his front porch talking to passersby. He was a regular at the South High Flea Market and local thrift stores, as he loved to find a bargain. On October 25, 2014, at the age of 75, Charles went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Luna Sims, and best friend Robert Brown. Those who remain to celebrate memories of Charles include his loving wife of 53 years, Clementine Leonard; devoted daughters, Sherri (Robert) Pea and Lisa Leonard (Eric); grandchildren, Kenneth, Clayton, and Courtney; brother-in-law, Edgar (Vivian) Bradberry of Los Angeles, California; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
