Charles Eugene Roberts, age 71, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 at his residence. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Charles was a proud graduate East High School. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Bell Labs as a Consumer Products Engineer and by Qwest Communications and Lucent Technologies as an IT Business Analyst. Preceded in death by children, Charles W. Smith, III, Sessley Smith, and Vanessa Roberts, parents, Lula M. Roberts and Marion O. Roberts, maternal grandparents, Charles and Lucielle Walker, paternal grandparents, Rev. Eugene R. Roberts and Beatrice Roberts Johnson, aunts, Eugina McCarty, Melzetta Smith, and Thelma Hayes, and uncles, George Roberts and Timothy Roberts. Those who remain to cherish memories of Charles include his precious wife, Sharon Roberts; children, Fontessa Kirk, Chris Roberts, Cheston Roberts, Chanse Roberts, Jessa Roberts, and Conner Roberts; grandchildren, Lamar Smith, Justin Smith, Justina Tanner, and Mia Roberts; brothers, Michael L. Roberts, Sr. (Frances) and John William Roberts (Thomas Weintraut, Jr.); sisters, LaChandra (Benjamin) Nesbitt and LaChanda (Steve) Donahue; aunt Myrtle Scott; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
