Charlie Draine Jr

Charlie Draine, Jr. was born April 21, 1941 to Ruthie B. and Charlie Draine, Sr. in Thomaston, Georgia. In 1959, Charlie graduated from Englewood High School in Chicago, Illinois. He enlisted with the United States Army and served from 1963 to 1965. In 1962, he met the lovely Jeanette Green and they later married on December 18, 1965. From this union came one daughter, Janeen. Chuck, as he was affectionately known, was a 45-year employee of Speigel, Incorporated, where he worked as a Supervisor in the Packing Department until his retirement in 2004. When Speigel merged with DFS/Eddie Bauer, he relocated his family to Columbus, Ohio. Charlie, Jeanette, and Janeen began attending Second Baptist Church and became members in 1995. As an active member of Second Baptist Church, Charlie served as a Deacon, participated in Men’s Fellowship, and sang in the Male Chorus. Deacon Draine was a loving husband, and a devoted father and grandfather. He was a very friendly and easy-going man who was genuinely happy. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, traveling, and spending time with his family. He also served as president of the Patrick-Jones Family Reunion Committee for 34 years. On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the age of 76, Deacon Draine departed this earthly life. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother McKenzie Ellerson. Deacon Draine is survived by his beautiful wife Jeanette; precious daughter Janeen; his sweet grandchildren, Jazaria and Xaiver; sisters, Nellie Thompson and Marcia Simmons, both of Chicago, Illinois Lovejoy of Atlanta, Georgia, and Rosa Smith of Thomaston, Georgia; brothers, Claxton Draine of Thomaston, Georgia and Larry Williams of San Diego, California; mother-in-law Mary J. Washington of Savannah, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Rose M. (Taft) Turner, Jackie Sheppard, and Verna Washington, all of Savannah, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Horace Greene of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Thomas Greene of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
