Charlina May Hubbard

October 28, 1945 — March 6, 2021

God blessed the late Charles Callin Hubbard, Sr and Martina May Hubbard, with their daughter, Charlina May Hubbard on October 28, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA. The family was later joined by her beloved brother, the late Charles Callin Hubbard, Jr. The family maintained strong Christian faith and worshiped together First African Baptist Church of Philadelphia. It was there that Charlina accepted her salvation and was baptized. She maintained a personal relationship with God throughout her life and continued worship in her later years at the Christian Spiritual Temple, Columbus, OH. Charlina was educated in Philadelphia public schools and graduated from Germantown High School. She initiated her higher education in liberal arts at Cheyney State University in Pennsylvania then graduated from Coppin State College, now University, in Baltimore, MD with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Social Science. Charlina was an Elementary and Secondary teacher in the school districts in and districts neighboring the cities of Baltimore, MD, Columbus, OH, Augusta, GA and Philadelphia, PA. Additionally, she was a Life Skills Instructor for the Ohio Correctional Institute and held additional positions in the fields of job development, sales and leasing, business, and entrepreneurship. In her years of retirement, Charlina focused her skills for her love and passion of teaching children and adults about God's messengers, angels. Her spirituality led her to become a Reiki Master and establish a teaching ministry, Angel Haven. Charlina's spiritual soul was as radiant as her positive attitude and beautiful smile lit up every room she entered. She loved jazz music, traveling, gardening, reading and arts and crafts but most of all being with family and friends. Charlina kindness and caring heart was contagious and easily transitioned new acquaintances to friends. She was an eight-year breast cancer survivor and was incredibly supportive of breast cancer prevention. She participated yearly in Susan Komen Breast Cancer Walk and activities. On March 6, 2021, God called Charlina and angels carried her to eternal peace. She is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Laury Love and Monique Murray Thompson, their husbands, James Love and Raymond K Thompson, six grandchildren; Larry Laury, Taylor Norman, Mark Norman, Jr., Paris Shields, Aniya Murray, Raymond B Thompson, Elyse Thompson, and two great-grandchildren, Liyah Laury- Jones and Martice Jackson, Jr. She is also survived by her beloved uncle Semuel May and sister-in-law Mercedes Hubbard as well many cousins, extended family, and a host of life-long friends and loving special friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Christian Spiritual Temple's Children's Ministry in Columbus, Ohio.
