Christine Ann Carter, affectionately known as “Deannie” was born in Baumholder Germany on October 12, 1959 with her twin brother, Christopher, to Eva Mae (Robinson) and John H. Carter, Sr. Deannie received the Lord during a Georgia tent meeting she was attending with her grandmother, Liz Robinson. Much like the other children, Deannie was an Army brat and in the 1970’s, she and her siblings settled in Columbus, Georgia with their parents. After high school, Deannie moved to Columbus, Ohio where she briefly worked at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. In the early 1980’s, she moved on to work at the MCL Cafeteria. What was thought to be a momentary gig at a restaurant, turned out to be a stellar career; Deannie known b co-workers as simply “Chris” moved up over the years from cooking in the kitchen to being general manger of her own store! It was not uncommon for district managers to send her to turn lesser performing stores around, which she did effortlessly. Deannie was able to motivate anyone with the most colorful language. She had the biggest heart and played no games, unless there was a computer nearby because she was the solitaire QUEEN! She loved music , namely Dolly Parton, Bette Midler, the Pointer Sisters, Stevie Nicks and of course Tina Turner! Widely known as a ranch dressing connoisseur, longtime lover of Mountain Dew but recently made the switch to Coca-cola. Although she endured hardships and losses, Deannie never lost her sense of humor or ability to love her family. She was an amazing “Grammy” to Chaunta’s children, helpful sister, the coolest auntie and the funniest friend. Deannie moved from this life on January 20, 2017 and now peacefully resides in God’s presence with her parents, Eva Mae Carter and SFC John H. Carter, Sr.; older brothers, James O. Carter, William P. Carter, her beloved twin Christopher A. Carter, and Glenn H. Carter; and her daughter, Chaunta M. Serrano. Left to remember her fondly are her siblings, John H. (Ronda) Carter, Jr., Flormargarita (Jimmy) Lilly, Melendez (Carmencita) Carter; grandchildren, Janvier Serrano-Shaw, Keeno Serrano, and Mei-Shay Serrano-Shaw, and hosts of beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews all of which she adored.
