Clarence Hatcher

Clarence Hatcher, Jr., also affectionately known as “Butch” to family and close friends, was the first born to the late Clarence Hatcher, Sr. and Katie B. (Thompson) Hatcher on March 18, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio. Clarence departed this life on Friday morning June 3, 2022. He suffered many years of declining health. Clarence was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio, until 1984, when he was introduced to The Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research, by a member of the Springfield, Ohio Branch. Later that year, Clarence joined the Columbus, Ohio Branch of the Institute until 1988. That year, he relocated to Louisville, Kentucky and became a member of that branch until 2004, when he returned to Columbus with his wife, Martha. Clarence remained a faithful member of the Columbus, Ohio Branch until the time of his passing.___ Clarence was educated in the Columbus Public School System and was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School, class of 1965, and attended Franklin University. He loved photography and taking pictures at family functions. He worked various jobs in Columbus, Ohio, mainly at the Parsons Avenue Branch of the Buckeye Savings and Loan Association, and, Ohio Bell. He also worked part-time for several years at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Services before his health began to fail. Clarence lived most of his adult life in Columbus, Ohio before moving to Louisville, Kentucky, where he married Dr. Martha Miller. They returned to Columbus together in 2004. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Teresa “Terri” Hatcher; and first wife, Beulah Hatcher. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Dr. Martha Miller; children, Andrea (John) Graham and Eric (Theresa) Hatcher of Columbus, Ohio, David Miller and Mark (Kelly) Miller of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Craig Hatcher, Shannon Harrell, Samantha and Loghan Graham, Katherine and Cassandra Hatcher, all of Columbus, Ohio, Brook Trowel, Tondaleah Townsend, David Miller Jr., Zoey Miller, Maya and Journey Miller, all of Louisville, Kentucky; 5 great grand-children; sisters, Gloria (Bobby) Joyce and Vita Gibson; special nieces and nephews, Shelley Joyce and Melissa Rispress, Robert (Harolyn) Joyce, Jr., Sean (Rayane) Joyce, and Kevin (Jessica) Gibson; and a host of other family and friends.
