Claude Edward Grant, Jr. was born December 25, 1947 to Claude E. Grant, Sr. and Betty Jane Grant in Richmond, Virginia. Shortly after his birth, the family moved back to Columbus, Ohio, where he was raised. He played football for the Maryland A.C. where he made All League as a wide receiver. Claude was a music enthusiast, and especially enjoyed the jazz genre. However, his main passion was for rollerskating. He distinguished himself as one of the premier skaters in the Central Ohio area, putting on shows for Eddie Castleberry (WVKO). For a number of years, Claude worked in the Building Maintenance division of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. When he discovered a new passion in cooking, he went back to school and received his diploma as a professional cook. Claude went to work for Aramark Company and was assigned to the CMACAO Head Start program where his daughter also attended. On March 1, 2016, at the age of 68, Claude departed this earthly life while at his residence. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Claudia Blount, brother Charles Grant, and grandparents, Edward Grant, Dorothy Taylor, and Mary Elizabeth Dalton. Left to cherish many precious memories of Claude are his sons, Tyrone (Sylvia) Grant, Marty Blount of Rialto, California, and Claude (Linda) White; daughter Jueqetta Mack (Jaquan Bickerson); Norma and Tony Edwards; brothers, Bruce Grant and David (Colette) Grant; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
